Suspect (arrested): Hilario Adrian, White male, 7/18/1967

On Sunday, December 10, 2023, at approximately 4:17 a., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a stabbing call in the 600 block of Congress Avenue. When officers arrived at the scene they located the victim, who was later identified as Jeffery Lewis, lying on the sidewalk with multiple stab wounds. Lewis was taken to a hospital, where he later died. Detectives with the Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Specialists responded to process the scene. A witness identified the suspect as Hilario Adrian, who was subsequently detained. It was revealed during the investigation that Lewis and Adrian were involved in a disturbance that escalated, leading to Adrian stabbing the victim. Adrian later confessed to the detectives that he had stabbed Lewis.
During the course of the investigation, it was discovered that Adrian has a lengthy criminal involvement with the Austin Police Department. At the time of the murder, Adrian was out of jail on bond for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, stemming from an April 2023 arrest. Adrian was released on bond in August 2023. Adrian was arrested and charged with 1st degree felony murder.
